Benefits of Owning a Pool

Inspired by the warm weather we’ve had lately, and the pool at our recent Oakville listing at 2482 Nichols Drive, I thought I’d look at the benefits of owning a pool.

Here in Canada, there are only a few months which we can sit (comfortably) poolside. Despite this, there are many pros to owning a backyard pool, including:

Get Wet, Stay Fit. A pool is the perfect resource for low-impact activity for adults and children alike. Not only does a pool allow for at-home physical exercise, but swimming also helps release stress, allows you to decompress, and can help sleep as well!

Improve Home Value: While you may not earn back everything you put into your pool if you install it from scratch, inground pools typically increase the value of a home by about 5%, according to the National Association of Realtors in the US.

Family time: in the summertime, nothing quite brings people together like a pool. A pool is the centerpiece for barbeques, play time, and social gatherings with family and friends. They also give kids a reason to stay home and have friends over, and play outside.

Beat the Heat: What’s more rewarding than jumping into the pool after weeding and yardwork? Instead of hiding indoors in the air conditioning, a pool is the perfect way to cool down and escape the summer heat.

Though owning a pool comes with maintenance time and expenses, they are also a wonderful addition to a home.
